Everything Eats and Poops… even Skin!

People with skin conditions such as acnerosacea, and psoriasis often suffer from constipation and other digestive conditions.  Conversely, people with digestive conditions such as constipation, usually suffer from skin conditions that are linked to pores being ‘constipated’ with the build-up of sticky dead skin cells; conditions like acne, etc.

SkinAgain Skin Product and Skin TreatmentsJust like a sluggish digestion can come from not drinking enough water and not incorporating enough fiber into the diet, sluggish skin can be linked to de-hydration and not incorporating safe exfoliation methods into daily hygiene.

Here are some tips for the skin & digestion:

1.       Drink half your weight in ounces of water per day (If you weigh 150, drink 75 oz of water)… Yes, that much!

2.       Have whole grain oatmeal & honey for breakfast (and while it cooks, take some, mix with honey and exfoliate your face).

3.       Don’t forget to breathe and move………..A LOT!

Try these tips and tell us how they work!

Accepting Our Imperfections – FINAL Part 5

Filed under: Self-Image, Tips and Ideas, Uncategorized — Tags: , , , , , , , — admin @ 5:07 pm

At least once a week, I don’t straighten my hair.  I have a heard of, what I like to call, a ‘multicontinent mane’.  It’s a plethora of Afro-Euro-Alien hairs that all have a mind of their own.  When someone sees me on my ‘natural hair day’ (I used to call it a ‘bad hair day’) it’s usually accompanied by a “Whoa – I didn’t know you had…. (pause to find a descriptive)….curly hair!”   Growing up, I hated the attention my full, crazy hair attracted. Throughout early church school years, when I was supposed to be praying for world peace (which I regularly do now), I would instead supplicate for either “black girl” or “white girl” hair. “Your choice, God!  Just get rid of this poodle perm my Afro- Euro-Alien blood has cursed me with. Amen.”

God had a much larger agenda, so hair drama followed me into high school.  Straight, parted-in-the-middle-with-a-hippie-headband was the trend, and to get the ‘look’, I’d spend hours literally ironing my hair on the iron board and that was after I had already rolled my hair on frozen orange juice cans and slept in them all night.  Of course, I’d seal the deal with Dippity Doo and Aqua Net.

Then the world turned on its axis . . .

The blow dryer was invented!

I do think its funny – the expressions I get on my natural hair days.  I appreciate how many crazy textures exist on my scalp – at least once a week I do.  I don’t call it a “bad hair day” anymore.  My granddaughter loves playing ‘in’ it.

Please tell us about your unique hair and how you have found fun ways to enhance its natural ‘mind of its own’.

Winter White New Year!

On New Year’s Day, let’s collectively bring fresh, white light around us on the long winter night.

Vintage White New Years

People usually keep their traditional Christmas décor around for New Year’s, but this year let’s do something fun, fresh and different. . . and let’s do it together!

Put away all the red, green and gold, and let only the white remain; white lights, white candles – anything white.  Add some white mums, daisies or lilies.  Hang a white paper lantern.  Put white votive holders filled with white candles.

Let your imagination go wild and fill white candy dishes with white mints and white chocolates.  Perhaps a white angel food cake with white Reisling.

In your guest bath, place scented white soaps and bottles of white lotions around, and then finish it off with a new white hand towel.

To bring in the New Year, adorn yourself in something white, sexy, flowing and comfortable.  A article that shows off your beautiful ‘you’, because that’s what you are… beautiful!

If there is anything at all that is not working for you anymore and you need to free yourself from it, the energy of this ‘white-light’ environment will help you do what you need to go to ‘let it go’.  Try it, you will be amazed!

Once upon a time, a few blogs ago. . .

. . . we handed out a menu that guaranteed a night of hot romance – foods and recipes that stimulate the – you know. . .!

Since then, we’ve talked about how cool it would be to create the Ultimate Sexy Cookbook.   A cookbook that takes into consideration foods that:

  • Help your skin glow (after all, we are all about the skin!)
  • Help stimulate the libido
  • Create aromas that relieve stress
  • Enhance your taste buds
  • Can be eaten with your fingers (and shared with your fingers)
  • That pair super-well with wine
  • That, when cooking, can be a shared experience (ya’ know – like fondue. . .)

A cookbook that’s not too serious, maybe a little weird and a reflection of all the memorable eating experiences that have left a ‘good taste in your mouth’ (Get it? Hahaha!).

Please comment with a recipe, meal or menu that inspired a great evening with your ‘special someone’.

Who knows?  Maybe yours will be published!

Unsightly scars? Get a FREE product just by telling us your story!

We’re in the business of skin and it’s about time somebody talks about a huge factor in skin that is actually the culprit of many diseases and health problems, and yet one that is rarely taken into account in health care practices.

SCARS!

Did you know that when not healed correctly, a scar can cause many blockages in energy flow, circulation and nerve flow?  It’s true!  When scar tissue builds up internally inside of the fascia of the body, it can inhibit circulation of blood and lymph, range of motion, muscle strength and compromise organ and endocrine function.

If you have a substantial scar, it could be wreaking havoc on your health, and you may not even know it!

To a person who has been severely burned, and whose scar covers a massive part of their skin, this is scary . . . and uncomfortable.

Recently, here at SkinAgain, we had the privilege of personally attending a Burn Institute survivor support group.  We found it empowering to hear their stories of courage, pain and survival. Here are a few things we learned about the ongoing challenges they have with their skin.

·         They cannot use anything with perfumes

·         Many of the products are too greasy

·         They need a moisture lotion under silicon sheets that are replaced daily.

·         They need something to use under their compression garments (which they wear for up to a year).

·         Many of them have skin discomfort the rest of their lives.

·         The cost for these products is ongoing…months and years and insurance doesn’t cover any of this!

If you’ve been following us here at SkinAgain, you know that our ongoing charity efforts is going to include giving our product to severely burned persons.

We would love to hear from you too!  Please share your story.  We will pick a winner from the first 10 comments and send them one FREE SkinAgain pHo-tone, a specially formulated healing Serum with over 300 energies to help soften and heal scar tissue.
