Splash Your Way to Younger Skin!

Dermatologists agree that improper cleansing ages skin.  Here is what they recommend to ‘beat the clock’:

1.       Cleanse only once a day!

Yeah, that’s right!  Twice a day is too drying for over-40 complexions.

2.       Use a moisturizing cleanser – even a cleansing oil.

Save the ‘squeeky clean’ concept for little girls.  Rub cleansing oil into skin for a few minutes before bedtime to boost circulation and increase radiance.  Remove with a warm, moist washcloth for more stimulation and mild exfoliant.  Apply moisturizer or serum.

3.       Just rinse with cool water in the morning.

You’ll brighten skin and make pores look tighter.

Try this for a few weeks and let us know how it works!

Jealous of that girl with the sparkling skin? It’s possible that look is makeup-free!

In competition with the apple, an orgasm a day may keep the doctor away!  An orgasm is on eof the healthiest things you can give yourself each day.

Take a looksey:

  • Sex makes you glow because it improves blood circulation, which helps to pump oxygen to your skin, eliminating toxins and making it brighter.
  • Just as with people who excerise, having sex reduces your hormone levels and balances them out.  The result?  Clearer skin for those who are acne-prone (along with healthier hair).
  • As you have sex, you are boosting collagen production, which staves off age spots and sagging.
  • Once you hit menopause, your skin quality diminishes and suddenly you may notice your face is extremely dry.  By having sex and getting the blood and oxygen flowing, you can keep dry skin away regardless of your age.
  • A study was done on sex and youth a few years back to prove this point.  In a span of 10 years, 3,500 men and women, both those who had sex regularly and those who didn’t, were put on one side of a two-way mirror, where participants on the other side had to guess their age.  The group that had an active sex life had their age underestimated by seven to 12 years, while some thought the group that only had sex infrequently actually looked older!
  • The same hormones that are released to make your skin glow will also keep your nails strong, especially during pregnancy.
  • Don’t replace your eight glasses of water with eight hours of sex, but having sex will keep your skin hydrated.  Since it improves circulation, the blood will circulate around your body more efficiently, giving your skin the moisture it needs to stay healthy.
  • During sex, you’re giving your face a free facial.  The sweat will clean from your pores the dirt, grime, and makeup residue you miss when you cleanse your face during the day.

Have a Great Valentine’s Day Weekend Everyone!

May All of Us Wake Up Monday Morning with Sparkling Skin!

Accepting our Imperfections – Part Two

As a teenager in the early 1970s, I had a small frame and breasts an average 34B.  Unlike my mother, who was very well endowed, I was petite.  Since it was the late part of the hippie generation, many times I went braless.  Everything was fine.

Years later, I became a breast-feeding mom of three children that were all born about a year apart…….bang-bang-bang.  And, since I faithfully breastfed each of them, you can imagine that after four years of continuous pregnancy and breastfeeding, my boobies resembled a collapsed Playtex® plastic bottle insert!  More affectionately termed: ‘pancakes’!

So, we’re talking about accepting our imperfections, right?  Well, I was just 25 years old, and this imperfection was totally unacceptable to me!  So, before breast implants were ever ‘in’, I was searching a surgical way to correct my frontal ‘pancakes’, especially after a concerned female stranger at my gym had the kahoonas to ask me “what happened to your breasts?”!!

Silicone was the only option back then, and I dove in.  That was 27 years ago.

Well, I got good mileage out of them, but three years ago the silicone began to crumble and scar tissue started to encapsulate and surround each piece of silicone.  A lumpy mess!  I had most of it removed (some of the pieces were impossible to remove) and saline implants replaced them.

Unfortunately, the scar tissue ‘mechanism’ in my body had gotten ‘turned on’, and now the saline implant on my left breast is completely encapsulated.  The maintenance on this thing; deep tissue massage to keep it soft, supplements and stretching exercises are a daily routine.  If I don’t keep up, it hurts and hinders the range of motion in my shoulder.

Recently, I learned of a revolutionary new system that involves the body’s own ability to break up adhesions (scar tissue), and so far I do see a subtle change for the good, so I’m going to continue with it.  Truth is, I like having a relationship with my cleavage!

My question is this:  What would you do?  Would get them removed and accept the imperfection of having ‘pancake’ boobies, or would you keep looking for a solution to have nice looking boobs?  A better question would be:  Do you know the solution to this problem?

Do you believe in miracle anti-aging products?

It appears that faith in some ‘miracle’ anti-aging products may have been misplaced: a new report in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO) warns that an ingredient in some skin creams may have serious long-term health consequences for women with, or at risk for, breast and uterine cancer. The offending substance? Estrogen!

The story began with an alert oncologist. He observed that the skin of a woman he was treating for estrogen-driven breast cancer looked more youthful since her previous visit. The doctor quickly ascertained that, starting four weeks earlier, his patient had been applying a new moisturizing skin cream after her daily bath.

His interest was immediately piqued. For years, it has been known that one of the benefits of taking estrogen for relief of menopausal symptoms is younger-looking skin.

Could the cream she was putting on her skin contain estrogen? The product information provided no indication that it did.

His suspicion aroused, the oncologist sent a sample of the patient’s skin moisturizer, along with 15 other skin products, to an independent lab for analysis. The price of the creams ranged from $10 to several hundred dollars. Each was chosen based on the manufacturer’s claim that it rejuvenated, or enhanced the youthful appearance, of the skin. None listed estrogen as an ingredient.

The results supported the doctor’s concern: six — almost 40 percent — of the creams contained significant amounts (up to 0.61%) of estriol or estrone, two potent forms of estrogen. As a comparator, Estrase, a vaginal cream prescribed to treat symptoms of vaginal dryness in post-menopausal women, contains up to 60 times less estrogen!

Cosmetic companies are not currently required to submit their products for regulatory approval to agencies such as the FDA or Health Canada. Rather, as noted in a recent scientific review, complex skin formulations that contain potentially harmful ingredients are largely regulated by the cosmetic manufacturers themselves. And, as we have just learned, these same manufacturers generally do not feel inclined to divulge the presence of “problematical” ingredients like female hormones.

Should we be worried about the estrogen content of facial creams and other skin care products? In short, yes.

More to the point, women with breast cancer who are under treatment with an estrogen-lowering aromatase inhibitor should be especially concerned about any product that, without their knowing it, could work against this treatment by raising the level of blood estrogen through the skin. Similarly, healthy women at risk for breast or uterine cancer should also beware of the increased exposure to environmental estrogen inherent in some rejuvenating skin preparations.

Watch us on Lifetime, Wednesday, 10/7/09 @ 7:30am!

Let’s face it… no one likes to look their age!

That’s why SkinAgain has come out with an innovative Ultrasonic Device that actually slows down the aging process.  The Balancing Act is excited to have SkinAgain on the program. They’ll be educating the viewers on how it works, how to use the SkinAgain Ultrasonic Device, and how you’ll benefit by it.

Tune in as this segment airs on the Lifetime Channel at 7:30 am, October 7th.

Our body thrives on energy because it’s the energy that causes our body to absorb nutrition and eliminate waste.  A skin cell is no different from the body itself – it absorbs nutrients and eliminates waste.  When the energy slows down so does this process and the direct result is aging, uneven tone and skin conditions.

The Ultrasonic Device is similar to the expensive ultrasonic machines used in high-end beauty salons but, it’s the ONLY patented FDA and UL approved beauty machine that integrates galvanic ion and ultrasonic wave technology– and can be used at home.  Using ion and ultrasound technology the SkinAgain Ultrasonic Device combined with SkinAgain C² Gels, wake up the skin cell and gives it the energy to perform this absorption and elimination process.

Many women wonder if it can be used on other parts of their body other then the face.  It absolutely can!  Celebrities have had it used on them in high-end spas to treat cellulite, stretch marks, scars and other issues with positive results.  The Ultrasonic Device is now available for everyone, not just celebrities-and can all be done at home in 4 minutes or less.  And most importantly– it’s affordable.

Check out www.skinagain.com– where slowing down the aging process can become a reality.
