Sunburn 911
Too much time in the sun? Here are a few simple suggestions for quick relief. But first -- if you are experiencing fever, blisters, rash or chills as a result of your sunburn consult your doctor immediately to rule out the possibility of sun poisoning.
When the heat is on, aloe is your skin's best friend. Apply refrigerated, peeled aloe leaves directly on the affected area. Don't have an aloe plant handy? SkinAgain's pRo-tone provides the same benefit in a convenient cream.
Take a bath! Add bergamont, lavender or chamomile essential oils to cool bath water and soak for 10 minutes. Or mix oatmeal in tepid water, soak, and then air dry. After your bath, keep the healing going with SkinAgain's pRo-tone.
Take a (warm) shower! The mild heat of the shower draws out the heat of the sunburn and increases circulation to the area. This speeds the healing process. Follow you shower with SkinAgain's pRo-tone for maximum healing and relief.
Cucumber slices are very soothing. Gently rub the sunburned area with fresh slices for a cooling effect. Don't have a cucumber in the fridge? Shred a raw potato and apply to the burn area for a similar remedy.
Applying ice to the sunburn will stop the burning process and provide cooling relief.
Milk does a body good! Make a compress of buttermilk (or whole milk) and apply to the burned area for 15-10 minutes once every three hours.
Finally, stay out of the sun for a while to give your burn adequate healing time. Apply SkinAgain's pRo-tone to reduce redness, stop swelling and speed healing. Find pRo-tone on our website.
